Many holiday shoppers find their tradition of giving gifts that ‘give back’ is severely curtailed in these challenging economic times. This year, Lindsay Olives offers a simple solution – beautiful yet budget-friendly wreaths whose purchase helps alleviate hunger. New this year, Lindsay Olives offers compassion-minded shoppers two sizes of its gorgeous handmade wreaths of olive, bay and eucalyptus branches to hang as a sweet-smelling front door welcome or enjoy as natural, lovely centerpieces.
Proceeds from the wreath sales go to The Meals On Wheels Association of America, the oldest and largest national organization in the United States, representing programs that provide meals to people in need.
For the first time, Lindsay Olives is offering gift-ready wreaths in two sizes, each a fragrant restyling of the traditional olive branch wreath. Holiday shoppers can give a charming 14-inch round wreath ($30), or an impressive 18-inch round wreath ($35). The wreaths are hand-woven from freshly harvested olive branches, universally recognized as a symbol of peace, along with branches from bay and eucalyptus trees.
Because the troubling economy has led people to spend more time close to home, these beautiful wreaths are more relevant and appreciated than ever. The smaller wreath is perfect as table or hearth décor for both special and everyday gatherings, and is especially beautiful when paired with a festive candle in a hurricane-style holder. The larger wreath creates a dramatic front door welcome during the holiday season.
The branches are harvested from California groves and, over time, dry to a beautiful silvery green. Fragrant bay and eucalyptus branches add that special holiday aroma. Each wreath is packaged gift-ready in holiday red tissue paper with a personalized gift card.
The Lindsay Olive Holiday Wreath is available exclusively at http://www.lindsayolives.com or by calling (800) 765-2029. The 14-inch wreath is $30 and the 18-inch wreath is $35 plus shipping, with delivery until December 31, 2009.
“We know that there are more hungry families than ever and that this will be true even during the holidays. Our partnership with The Meals On Wheels Association of America is a simple, turn-key way for holiday shoppers to give a natural, meaningful gift and help fill empty stomachs,” said Kate Hart, Consumer Marketing Manager, Lindsay Olives. “We all know someone who has been nourished by the generosity of Meals On Wheels and its volunteers. This year’s wreaths make it possible for gift givers to continue to support this vital program.”
The olive tree is one of the oldest trees on Earth. Archives of ancient civilizations dating back thousands of years refer to the olive branch as a symbol of peace and goodwill.

The POURfect Kitchen Solution to Help Make Thanksgiving Dinner Preparations Easier

Thanksgiving is just a few short weeks away, which means people are looking forward to large family meals. What people are not excited about are the large messes that will be consuming their kitchens. With all that preparation of gravy, cranberry sauce and a hundred different types of stuffing and casseroles, sometimes the cook is left with more food on the kitchen counter then in the baking dish. The creators of POURfect® Products have found a solution for common frustrations and mishaps in the kitchen to make food preparation easier, more accurate and tidier for anyone.
The Spill-Proof Bowl Set’s ($15 - $40) smartly designed features make it the only mixing-measuring-pouring bowl you’ll ever need. The unique channel and gull wing design creates a drip less spout to guide the ingredients where they need to go, eliminating overspill. And a small pivot below the drip less spout allows the bowl to latch onto the edge of another bowl or stand mixer while it is running without danger of hitting the beater or spilling a single drop. These bowls are perfect for cooking with the kids.
Many holiday recipes call for measurements such as a drop, smidgen, pinch or a dash. What many people don’t know is that these are actual cooking measurements. POURfect’s 12-piece measuring spoon plus leveler set ($12) offers the most expansive range of sizes available. Attached with a snap-off ring, each spoon is calibrated to measure 1/64 tsp (drop), 1/32 tsp (smidgeon), 1/16 tsp (pinch), 1/8 tsp (dash), ¼ tsp, 1/3 tsp, ½ tsp, ¾ tsp, 1 tsp, 1 ½ tsp, 1 TBS, and 2 TBS and includes a comfort grip with thumb depression for comfort and support. The set also includes a scrape to easily level ingredients for exact measurements and the polished design releases ingredients easily.
When reducing or increasing a recipe’s size, odd measurements can suddenly occur. POURfect’s 9-piece measuring cups ($18) for dry ingredients come in a wide range of common and specialty sizes including: 1/8 cup, ¼ cup, 1/3 cup, ½ cup, 2/3 cup, ¾ cup, 1 cup, 1 ½ cup, and 2 cups. All measuring cups nest within each other for easy storage and have flat bottoms so that they can rest on the counter without spilling.
The POURfect beakers ($10 - $24.95) feature a flat edge drip less spout and gull wings with channel to eliminate the risk of spilling wet ingredients while measuring and pouring. The comfort grip and unique beaker shape fits naturally in the palm of the hand to better control flow when pouring. The beakers are available in 1-cup, 2-cup and 4-cup sizes.
